Intent does not even come into the equation.
It doesn’t matter one whit if you were trying to shift a baby to a better position if you drop it.
You are responsible for your actions and the impact of those actions.
The fine line is that you are not responsible for how another person is affected by innocent acts of yours, but due to Harm Minimization you are obligated to not be reckless. (and allowing yourself harm to prevent it to another violates individual sovereignty).
If you chose to use plastic, you must accept that you are responsible for making things worse. You don’t get credit for “being better than others”.
Harm minimization also recognizes a level of harm is unavoidable and must be accepted.
But Owning your actions is an obligation to make that level as small as possible. t
